Metrics Fund

Metrics Fund was founded as a breeding ground for high-finance talent. The fund aims to bring together the very best B&R Beurs has to offer in terms of investing and social events. Our members can most easily be described as easy-going and highly ambitious about finance. We are best known for our serious non compromising attitude towards investing and our strong social network of alumni, of whom many work at leading investment banks and prestigious investment firms in London and Amsterdam.

We aim to come together on a weekly basis by having alternating weekly dinners and ‘investment meetings’. Experience has it that discussing investments over dinner is unsuccessful and leads to either a lack of social interaction or a lack of proper investing. By disentangling the social and serious elements of our investment group we optimize both. Our investment meetings are usually spent at university in a meeting room, where we discuss the markets, our portfolio and potential investments. Pitches are performed on the spot, discussed and acted upon on the same night.

Apart from the regular activities, we organize an annual trip to London which is a great opportunity to meet up with our alumni. In the past we have also organized a ski trip to Val Thorens.

Investment style

We aim to generate alpha by leveraging off the different skillsets present within Metrics Fund. New members can expect a steep learning curve that is second to none within B&R Beurs but will also have the opportunity to immediately contribute towards investment decisions. Prior knowledge is not necessary at all but a willingness to learn and a sincere interest in investing are.

Past investments ranged from value investing driven stock picking, macro-economic related plays and more complex derivative structured investments. Last year, for example, we had a derivative strategy with Bonus Certificates on the DAX, resulting in a decent return. Moreover, we took a look at some special situations like IPO’s and spinoffs.

Speak to us at the drinks and join us at one of our dinners if you want to get to know us better!
